Gašper Vidovič from Morphix Design Studio talks about running his one man design studio in Slovenia

Gasper Vidovic is a web designer whose been designing websites since back in 1997 as a self-accused “web enthusiast” at the time and within 2 years he was designing websites professionally. Gasper’s Morphix Design Studio is based in Slovenia in Europe. The Morphix design studio was started back in 2000 and has since established itself offering web design and identity services to its clients. Gasper had some things to say about his studio from why he started his design studio to what clients can expect from him and Morphix Design Studio.

1. Gasper, you started Morphix Design Studio back in 2001. Is the studio a one person team? Or have you since hired more coders or designers?

Morphix Design Studio is still a one-man band. At this time I don’t expect this will change in the near future. I’m specialized strictly in all types of graphic design: from offline graphics, banners, identities, websites to complex application user interfaces.

2. Why did you decide to start Morphix Design Studio?

The decision to start working as a freelance designer came after 2 years of working as an art director for a local web agency. I just found out that I’m a type of person who wants to make his own timetable. Working as a designer in his own small business has a lot of responsibility but is also extremely relaxing and creative.

3. Gasper, when did you start designing websites?

I started creating websites back in year 1997. Of course at this time I wasn’t really a web designer but more as a web enthusiast with some knowledge of HTML and some graphic tools. Also CSS wasn’t really a topic at that time. We built simple websites with HTML tables. The techniques behind websites changed extremely till now. Following those new techniques is necessarily if you want to stay in this business.

4. When a client comes to you with a design project how can clients expect to be treated?

I treat every single project very professional and with lot of care. Every project should be something special for a graphic designer. I except only selected projects, for those I think I can do my very best.

5. Does Morphix do any front-end coding on your web projects?

Morphix Design Studio doesn’t do any front-end coding at all. We outsource it if a client has a need for it.
